The Oakland Raiders Have Selected Kolton Miller

After swapping firsts and picking up two third round picks from the Arizona Cardinals, the Oakland Raiders finally used a first round pick when they selected left tackle, Kolton Miller out of UCLA. With Derwin James and Tremaine Edmunds both being on the board, it is absolutely baffling that the team would reach on a player who most experts believe has a very low ceiling.

The Oakland Raiders Have Selected Kolton Miller

The first pick of the Jon Gruden and Reggie McKenzie era was. Most mocks had them taking linebacker Roquan Smith, but he was gone long before Oakland had a chance. After glancing at the players available, the silver and black moved back five spots, and completely missed.

Kolton Miller is a good athlete, but his mechanics are a mess, and the Oakland Raiders completely neglected the best player available to reach on a need. Donald Penn isn’t getting any younger and the right tackle position has been in chaos for years, but this was a horrid move by the Raiders.

Reportedly, former head coach and current offensive line coach, Tom Cable, loved Miller’s upside and vouched for him. It’s very apparent now that Jon Gruden has the final say in who the team drafts, and it’s hard to be excited about this pick if you’re a member of the Raider Nation.
